How to do the Exercise
Step 1: Secure the cables so that the stirrups are 6 to 12 inches off the floor.
Step 2: Securely place both feet in the stirrups. Get into push-up position wherein only the hands are touching the floor.
Step 3: Lower the chest to the floor and push your body back up similar to doing a regular push-up exercise.
Step 4: The moment you push yourself back up. Bring both knees towards the chest. and back out again in a swift motion. This completes one repetition.
- Do not arch your back nor stick your buttocks up in the air. You have to be in control of your movements.
The TRX Atomic Push-up is considered a total body exercise. It is also an alternative and calisthenics exercise. The chest muscles are being worked on along with the abs, hip flexors, lower back, shoulders and triceps.
The only TRX Atomic Push-up equipment that you need is the TRX Suspension. Another variation that is closely similar to this exercise is by performing a traditional push-up.
